Anyone any idea where is better for a Technologist to look for work? Canada or Austrailia?
Also any other suggestions would be great.
    Thank you

Australia is about to burst its housing bubble, and nobody is hiring. An Arch tech I know who moved to Sydney in January still can't find work. I'd do my research before going.

    Hi Paterson,

Well I cant speak for Canada, but here's my 2 cents..

Graduated June 09, moved to OZ June 10 (Brisbane) It took me about a month to find work. Plently of work but you have to put yourself out there big time...!! My girlfriend and I are now sponsored on a 457, 4 year visa, and got a raise the same day I found out..;).

But I've heard of lads coming over and not finding work for months and then lads getting work the week they arrive..! Everyone has a different story...

    Good luck...!

    www.seek.com.au
That's prob the best IMO. Also if you have an idea of where you might be moving to, look up the architects offices in the area and express interest.

Revit is pretty big here so if you use that then it's an advantage.

    Good luck!

You are basing that on one person who still can't find work. Everyone is different, I've had dry patches and patches where I was offer 3 jobs in two weeks.

Also, had I not found any architectural work, and been stuck on site doing grunt work. I wouldn't regretted a thing,. All in australia has been a hugely postive life experience for me (I stress for me) and so happy I did it.

Its a while since Ive been in Canada, but talking to a number of contacts recently there is work in BC (Vancouver and surrounding areas). Brush up on your timber frame knowledge, there's always high-end houses, and apartment blocks on the go. I also know a guy just back from Calgary, there seems to have been lots of work available, however I think the extreme winters got to him and his wife.
