Looking for an interior designer

    Hi,

I am new to boards so I am hoping you can help me.

Myself and my husband are in the process of building a new 4 bedroom house, both of us work full time so do not have the adequate time to invest in sourcing and over seeing the interior work. We are looking to hire an interior design/interior architect to project manage the job and aid us in the layouts, and selection of the kitchen, finishes, furniture, everything really.

We haven't really started looking yet but I thought that getting some feedback on the subject would be a good place to start.

As I have never used an interior designer before, I would like to know how much I should expect to pay and how exactly does an interior designer charge. I have heard numerous things from work colleaguess/friends, e.g interior designers will charge you a percentage of your budget. Is this correct and what would the percentage be? Or maybe I am totally wrong about this!

Really appreciate any advice you can give me.

    Thanks,
    Sarah82.

Check the Interiors Association for a list of designers in your area

    www.theinteriorsassociation.ie

Charges vary from designer to designer but they will all explain their fees
beforehand. Using a good designer should save you money in the long run.
