I joined a kettlebell class 2 weeks ago. The guys gives the women 5kg kettlebells. So after my workout I felt the pain mainly because it was my first time. This week I went and felt nothing at all. Next day I was not even sore. I asked the instructor was it because the weights are too light for me. He said no I'm still toning my muscles bla bla but I think 5kg is nothing... seriously its too light. what should I be on ??

    Im 5ft 2. weigh 125 pounds

Personally, I would start you on an 8Kg Kettlebell. Anything less is not worth your while because you cannot really get the form right on the swing and snatch in my opinion.

Were you swinging a 5kg or what did they have you do? Most women are usually fine starting with a 12kg bell.
Just as an aside, soreness is not necessarily an indicator of a good or bad workout either.

You didn't go and get your ears pierced did you?

yeah swinging it and doing ab crunches stuff like that..

There are women who have been doing it for 4 months and there still on the same size kettlebell. I just dont want to come across as thinking Im better than them by wanting heavier a one. The women were wrecked doing the workout and I felt nothing. I wasn't even out of breath. I told him and asked him was I doing the workout wrong. He asked do I workout a lot. I told him I jog almost everyday, so he said that could be the reason as to why I dont think its working but it really is

4 months and no progress sounds strange to me, how do you know this if you're only there a couple of weeks? The answers you seem to be getting are a bit strange, if you're not happy maybe try moving to a different class or have you committed to a course?

no they probably have seen progress. I asked the girls are they still with the same weight and they said yes but I just thought you would increase every so often

Im not committed to it, I pay when I get there each week. Ill ask him can I increase if he gives me another excuse Ill try find somewhere else :)

It may also depend on your technique, they may well be responsible instructors. I dont generally move someone on until their technique is up to scratch, though I realise he gave you a different explanation.
