Hey guys, my boyfriend proposed to me in March in New York and we've been just really enjoying the celebrations and getting used to being engaged since then but now it's time to think about all the details.

What we would really like is a small intimate ceremony later in the day, maybe 3 o'clock with just family and then throw a big party afterwards for no more than 80 people. Like a massive bbq with music and dancing and just generally lots of fun. We're not really into having a big sit down, 3 course meal. The problem is I don't know where to start looking at venues. Most hotels will only do the sit down meal and originally we were thinking of a We're thinking of a marquee at home but that's not really a go as we don't have the space for the facilities. Wexford, Wicklow, Dublin, Kildare area is where we're hoping so if anyone has any idea's would love to hear them.

Also, don't know if the format is acceptable, in otherwords do people expect to be at the church if they are coming to the food after?

    Thanks in advance :)

Have a look at the Leeson Court Hotel, they had a BBQ for a wedding I worked at about 2 years ago. Food was fantastic and the atmosphere was really relaxed.

Greta, thanks, will check it out although we didn't really want City Centre.

I've been having a look at Horetown House in Wexford, has anyone had any experiences of here?

Did you end up going with Horetown house? If so I'd love to hear your feedback. We are considering it for our wedding.

Depending on your location there is a house in Wicklow called Trudder and they're having an open day tomorrow (Father's Day) www.Trudder-Lodge.com

I'm looking at it for a wedding but not sure if I can make the open day... Would love to know if anyone has tried it or visited it? I was there briefly on a launch type day they had but it lashed rain so it was hard to tell what it could look like for a wedding. Thanks
