I want to get measured for a suit properly & then buy a suit online...

Where would be the best/cheapest place to get this done?

    Thanks in advance,
    Conor Shanley.

I don't know where would do the measurements unless they thought you were buying from them, but even if you can get them done, I can't really see this working.

Every make of suit will fit differently, even if on the face of it its measurements are the same. Even within one brand, different suits may fit differently. Your only hope would be to find and try on a particular suit and then try to source the exact one online and then you might still need it adjusted.

When i was a groomsman for a wedding abroad i needed to get measured for a suit i went to the suit place across from cps, cant think of the name. Explained the situation and they did the measurements for me no problem. If you use an excuse like that maybe they would do the same.

You would be as well off buying a suit in your general size (ie waist, leg length, chest size close or correct) then having it fitted and altered by a tailor. Doing it the other way around doesn't make much sense.

I used to work in a suit shop and people came into get measured the whole time even if they werent getting a suit with us.
Here's a few tips anyhow if your getting measured,

wear the shoes your going to be wearing when you are wearing the suit.
The trousers are meant to just hit above the heel on your shoe.

Also if your a 30 waist then the general rule of thumb is that you go 8 inches up for your jacket so it will be a 38.

Also get your arms measured, a lot of places dont do this, but make sure you do especially if buying over the internet so you'll know if you need a Short, Regular or Long arm. If they dont do it in the shop get someone you know with a measuring tape to help you do it. just hold your arm out to the side and measure from your arm pit down to your wrist.

    Hope this helps.
