Jesus Christ, again? Somebodies head needs to roll for this. At least the normal ticket prices didn't go up, that's something.

This is the same set of increases as February - the increases for season tickets was held until now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,986 ✭✭✭✭mikemac

They should increase cash fares to something nice and round like 2 euro and then cut the price of pre paid tickets
The "dwell time" at some stops is ridiculous, slows everything down

It will go ahead and we wont do**** about it.

    This country is a ****hole

I just assumed bus fares always go up.

Wouldn't mind if the service was as advertised but there is NO way that they run the buses as frequently as their timetables suggest. I've often waited 40 minutes on a bus that is supposed to run every ten minutes. Have to be the only country in the world were "Out of service" buses can still run as long as they don't contain any passengers also.

Blame the UNIONS - they have this company (‘er country) totally ruined and tied in knots. With the UNIONS running the show Dublin Bus have absolutely no way of running efficiently never mind economically viable.

cant bloody believe it but i guess someone has to pay for the fancy electronic displays they put up recently, and who else if not us :/

on a different note, i have 5 day rambler on which there was still 2 days left , exp date on it says Feb 2012. I bought it at the old price (20 euro me thinks in 2010). Wanted to use my last day left like a week ago but the card reader in the bus went ''use not allowed - card expired''. Like WTF, they just robbed me off 8 euro

I wonder will the story be the same with Ramblers bought now that after 1st of May they will not work despite expiry date often showing 2012 (?)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,189 ✭✭✭drdeadlift

why is sh!t not allowed its not that nasty of a word

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,345 ✭✭✭landsleaving

Oh great, it's already another thread bashing Dublin, bashing the country, bashing unions.

Unions in Ireland are piss weak, when's the last time you saw a large scale strike. They couldn't even solve Irish Ferries

    Should be stronger, not weaker

Do you know that we have fibre optic cables running to many of the main bus stops in Dublin to ignite 'REAL TIME' signage in order that the weary public can be kept infomred when the next bus is due, but the UNIONS won't allow this to proceed.

Many bus stops already have real time signage..

Do you mean silage? Where is this real time signage? WHERE?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,071 ✭✭✭ebbsy

I think they deserve the increase and more. We have the best transport system in the world, better than even Switzerland or Germany . Our buses are really clean and there never are any skangers drunks or druggies on board. They are always on time and the Sunday service is so good it makes me so proud.

    Are you on something?

They're all over. For example I passed one on Westland Row this morning. I know there's also at least one on the Malahide Road in Artane.

Smoking and injecting heroin is totally tolerated too and whatsmore the Government courtesy of the tax payer even give you a free bus pass to sit on the bus and drug up til your hearts content.

Wow, I stand corrected - none out this way. However one thing puzzles me?

I thought they were only able to display digital numbers as opposed to letters i.e. next bus due 3 flippen days.............

Personally I blame those Irish speaker types who bitched about the signs not being bi-lingual, for those who only know Irish.

Go to Dublin Bus and get it replaced.

Actually no, AVLS / RTPI is mostly GRPS (mobile phone technology). Only the power supply is wired in.

I've always considered that I'd gladly pay double to keep certain elements of the public from using the bus.

But then I consider further that since that element (by fair means or foul ) generally pay nothing to get on anyway that it'd make no difference as a deterrent.

Replace Dublin Bus with giant snails. Cheaper and just as fast.

A large percentage of AH regulars don't use Dublin bus.

A large percentage of Dublin City forum regulars use Dublin bus.

See where I am going with this.
