A couple of years agomy wife and her brother had a massive massive falling out over his treatment of his kids and the way he spoke to his da (he's in his 40's).

Long and the short of it is, his kids (9, 7 & 4) are turning out to be scumbags and generally not nice. Swearing, absolutly no respect for anyone or anything.

The main part of the problem is that they live next door to the grandparents, who occasionally mind our child who without any biase is a generally a nice kid, very polite and mannerly.

The other kids are always in the grandparents house, one of whom has also just had a major operation and should be recupperating.

Yesterday my wife let slip that she would be home for a couple of hours on her lunch break and bringing our child to the park, the neices and nephew got wind and wanted to be brought along, no bother she said and brought them down.

She then bumped into the sister in laws sister.. Now this is the funny part. She drove out of her way to pick her up and drop her to the park not thinking about bringing her own kids. (who are never brought anywhere by them).

My mrs said this to her ma and basiclly blanked it out straight away. Myself and the mrs look after them as much as we can, we virtually have no social life as we never want to annoy them and egg shells when approaching them to mind our kid.

Long and the short of it we try to do the right thing and are turning out as the bad guys in this situation.

eh? I'm sorry I'm really not following this. Your brother in law lives next to your wifes parents who often look after the grandkids [your kid and the brothers kids] Your wife is not on speaking terms with the brother. Your wife planned a trip to the park with your kid, the brothers kids heard about this and wanted to go so she took them and either on the way or while there she bumped into the brothers wife's sister and ???? Who drove who were and whose kids are we talking about? The brothers kids? If you've had a falling out with him why are you looking after the kids, having no life and walking on egg shells?

    I'm confused.
Surely your own children are your first and primary concern, and anyone's elses is only after you have taken care of your own family- which includes yourself and your wife?

Your wife took other people children from the place where they were being minded. Without informing the parents?

What I think the OP means is:

    • The OP's wife planned to bring her child to the park.
    • Their niece and nephew found out about this and wanted to go.
    • The OP's wife brought along the niece and nephew to the park with her child for the afternoon, happy days.
    • AFTER that visit to the park she met her sister in law, had a chat with her, etc.
    • The sister in law then went ahead and brought the niece and nephew (i.e. her kids) to the park, and neglected to invite the OP's child (thus not returning the favour, thus arguably being a little selfish)
    • The OP's wife went to her mother (ie. the granny) giving out about this (her mother who lives next door to the niece and nephew and looks after them all the time and probably spoils them rotton) and she thought nothing of it (or "blanked it")
    • The OP and his wife are now stuck between a rock and a hard place because they are always left to looking after the niece and nephew (I think), and don't want to make the existing animosity between the wife and her brother any worse by protesting this.
