I've wanted to do this for a few years now but folks were never interested but I've decided that this year I will do it and was wondering if any nocs would be interested. It's for the Diabetes Federation of Ireland and takes place on June 25th. For anyone who doesn't know about it, it's a 30km charity walk through Dublin from dusk to dawn followed by breakfast :) details can be found at www.diabetes.ie

Very interested but I'm going on holidays for two weeks after the bank holiday so I'll only have six weeks to train

Think I'm on a stag that weekend, do they allow you to use a fat-guy cart?

Only if driven drunkenly in a threatening and aggressive manner :pac:

Sounds amazing. I saw a poster for this on my bus today and was thinking I'd have to check it out. I'd love to do it. :)

Mid June dawn is about 4:30 am and the Dusk is after 9pm so it's not as long as people might think.

I won't partake unless registration is still open after my holidays are finished as I won't have time to commit to train or hunt down sponsors and local businesses that'll help find said until then :o

It runs from 10pm until... some unspecified time after dawn :o You probably have a solid 8-10 hours to complete the 30km, which is perfectly reasonable :)

That seems fair enough, not sure how long registration stays open for.

As the breakfast is scheduled from 4am I intend on completeing the walk in 6 hours, I figure 5km an hour is doable:D

Yeah, actually it is. My walking pace is close to 8km an hour.

    You're a wolf, that's slow for you :D:P

    *bump*

Anyone else registering? Wonder if we should get together a Boards team for it... :) I claim credit for the tagline though! :p

So did this last night and while my feet are killing me I'm delighted I did it. Met some really great people and Dublin at night is amazing. We were really lucky with the weather. I raised €295, so a big thank you to all the boards folks who sponsored me:D Not sure yet how much was raised overall. Monies raised were for the Diabetes Federation of Ireland and if anyone saw the news today this is a worthwhile charity, according to Imperial College London and Harvard University, the number of people with Diabetes has doubled since 1980 worldwide http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13917263

    I finished in 6.5 hours :D

I would definitely recommend doing this next year for anyone interested and the talk is to hold it in Cork*, Patrick's Hill here I come!:pac:

*I should add, that's not official, just heard a few folks talking about it over breakfast.

Did this walk myself and it was a great experience. Finished in 4 hours 45 mins and my legs have not forgiven me for it yet. Cork sounds a very interesting prospect for next year.
