Last we saw drug-dealing mom Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker), she was being led away in handcuffs at the airport after falsely confessing to the FBI that she killed a woman. Well, she’s still wearing the cuffs in this promotional photo for season 7, which premieres on Showtime on June 27 — and not much else. But like a clever magician’s assistant, she seems ready to slip herself loose at the first opportunity.

Looking forward to seeing where they take the new season. Thought at times last season kinda dragged so I'm hoping it'll pick up.

    http://www.digitalspy.ie/ustv/news/a326995/weeds-exec-nancy-is-a-danger-junkie.html

Weeds executive producer Roberto Benabib has argued that Nancy Botwin is true to her character.

The first three seasons followed Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) distributing weed as a widowed suburban housewife before leaving town. Last season's finale saw the character turn herself in to the FBI to protect her family after being on the run.

Benabib told The Hollywood Reporter: "I think the general misconception is that Nancy strayed from who she really is, which was a suburban housewife.

"[However], the conceit of the show is that the suburban housewife was the stray and that she's really a kind of danger junkie, kind of addicted to the action like she is now... Actually, now is who Nancy was really born to be."

The seventh season picks up three years after the events of the previous episode, and will see Nancy return to dealing drugs.

"You'll see her basically reboot and start off from scratch," Benabib continued. "You're not going to see a Nancy that's going to apply for a waitressing job or a secretary's job.

"You're going to see a Nancy that will probably use her skills in the drug business to get back into the drug business."

Weeds airs Monday, 10/9c on Showtime.

Cracking opener, would like to have seen more about
the guys in Copenhagen, Andy in charge of his own free state would have been excellent.
    And is
    arms dealing
    Nancy's new gambit now?

Looks like it's all new plotlines with
Esteban dead and being set three years in the future.
Looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Anybody watching this? This season, even though only 3 episodes old is better than last season.
Good to see Doug getting his own storyline. The only downside for me is Silas, I think his character has become boring.
Aidan Quinn and Martin Short star in next weeks episode.

Yeah, I think it's been really good so far. It's a fresh start, which the show needed.

Doug doesn't interest me though, I hever like having to watch too much of him!

Aidan Quinn should be great though.

I dunno if its as good now with the whole reboot

Nancy is changed and cant really warm to her, Silas etc just seem a little boring,

Gonna give it a few episodes and see how it pans out

Havn't posted,as has anyone,in a while but the ending of the last night's episode was brilliant. I havn't laughed that much at Weeds in several years. The way way it was done was epic,Nancy trying to block out the wire,Aidan Quinn was great, the look on his face through the whole scene was brilliant. Then the look on the faces of the two agents at the end. Hilarious!

Yea was good, I dunno if I can root for Nancy anymore, she just craves the danger element and how she gets outta things is still kinda interesting, will keep watching though

Do you actually watch shows Richard or just post any news report you see about a show? Just curious because I wouldn't be arsed posting something about a show I don't watch, like the Vampire Diaries.

Michelle Tractenberg has already been in the last 2 episodes.

Shes getting annoying in weeds, really hoped she was nail gunned in the last episode

Searched weeds and this is what came up

What a truly abysmal ending to Weeds
    I mean seriously, WTF?
This show used to be very dark and edgy
Were they trying to be the Sopranos with that final episode?
I actually hope that the end was what it seems.
    They've come full circle,
Weed selling mom back in suburbia,
    Then Boom

    Any thoughts?

Ye it was basically $hite. Still watch because it is short and easy watching but it really should have ended years ago. There was one brilliant scene this season though where nancy is wearing the wire and everyone just keeps incriminating themselves and her while the agents are listening.

Who was that at the end with the gun?

And what's the deal with Shane training to be a cop? Surely him getting deeper into the police is the opposite of what the detective would want?

Jenji Kohan talks about the finale cliffhanger. Confirms the shooter is someone from "seasons past" but doesnt say who.

Good stuff, I want to know who the shooter is :D

I hope they treat it as the final season from the get go and wrap things up. It was so uncertain for awhile it would be renewed and if it had ended as it did with season 7, it would be hugely annoying...

Having watched the 7 series to date over the past week and a bit I have to say that I cannot understand how the show is so well received. Don't get me wrong it's very entertaining but it's throw away trash that's easy to watch and kills 25 mins but unlike great television such as the Wire, Deadwood, Sopranos, etc there's absolutely nothing going on under the hood. Nancy as a character is just boring, each season sees her following the same basic trajectory. There is absolutely nothing about her character that leaves an impression. Thankfully the supporting cast is so good. Doug, Andy, Esteban, Dean, Conrad are all great characters and far more interesting than Nancy. Would have been nice if season 7 had played out two separate storyline, Nancy in New York and the others in Copenhagen.

As for season 7, well it's by far the weakest. The overall plot was boring and uninteresting and nothing that we haven't seen before in the series. The whole Nancy getting custody sub plot was ridiculous, she's a absolutely terrible mother and deplorable human being. I get that shes supposed to represent a character who exists in a morally grey area but for that to work the character should be interesting and us as the viewer should feel some sympathy for her. We should empathise with her position and why she does the things she does but over the past season there wasn't one minute where I was invested in her as a character or cared about her fate.

Hopefully season 8 can bring something new to the party, otherwise the show is going to go out with a whimper.

As for that final shot of season 7, it's pretty clear who the shooter is. Tim Scottson. It was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw it and its the one that makes the most sense.

Has it been well-received? I was under the impression that pretty much everyone regarded it as a frivolous half-hour of dramedy that was a bit past its sell-by date.

Well it's been nominated and won a load of awards, garnered critical acclaim and good word of mouth. It's also routinely bounded about as being one of the past decades finest shows. It's not a terrible show, just a rather plodding and mundane one whose least interesting character is always front and center. They really should have ended it with season 6, was the perfect note to go out on but alas they forged ahead with the dreadful season 7 which has one of the worst final scenes in the history of television.
