    May be a stupid question! But how do I check if the car I have is an imported car? Going to view a new car tomorrow and the dealer wants to know if my current car is an import! Is this normal and how do i check?

    look for a difference in date of manufacture and date of registration, if there's a significant difference it was probably imported

    Not that reliable with a niche car, or a dealer finding something hidden down the back of a shed - I've seen a '10 reg Xantia!

    There's a field on the VLC for former registrations.;

    A tell tale sign but by no mean a dead cert is if the car has a very high reg number in comparison to Domestic models. eg. 00-C-49819 etc. For cars newer than 2005 it should have a Metric speedometer, the UK (the main source of imports) still uses Imperial and this is another sign.

    The only way you saw a 10 Reg Xantia is if it was a new Iranian import. They were still making them up to last year.

    Yes but maybe it has solid gold ashtrays in it or a kettle so you can make a cup of tea or a built in shower in the back so you could have a wash on your way to work,or something along those lines.
