Why has the price doubled in a year per litre?

Taxes, crude oil is rising and the dollar was strengthening against the Euro.

Actually no extra taxes have gone on home heat. Only taxes are approx. 4c carbon tax and 13.5% vat.
Price has risen from approx €560 per 1000 litres to about €900 purely because international oil prices have risen from $65 to $125 per barell.

Imo, prices will drop back substantially over the summer and you'll get 1000 litres for about €700 before winter hits again - so just get what you need at present. Also a good service of the boiler can see a big drop in usage
