Woke up this morning to a heart scratched into the bonnet of the car, although it feels shallow enough, it's obviously broken through the top lacquer & paint surface, it's a metallic grey.

The car was due to be traded in the next couple of months & this will obviously affect it's trade in value.

What's the possibilities in getting it repaired apart from an expensive respray of the bonnet?

****. Probably little rich scumbag kids, should be punished but their parents will say something stupid like "sure it's only a car".

Looks deep alright.. you might have the possibility of blending in the paint beside it however. I think heat is used to "borrow" paint from around the scratches.

I'm sure Paintdoctor will be along shortly :)

Looks like a respray only unfortunately. There should be castration laws for this.

Perhaps Your are lucky it's just one panel, the usual is to damage the entire side of the car and ruin 4 or 5 panels costing +€1000 to repair. Disgusting all the same.

A shame OP. I don't understand people who have such disregard for a persons property. Such scum.

Hope it gets sorted OP. I'm assuming its too deep for a bit of T-Cut and polish action?

That's not going to polish out I'd say. Too deep.

ive seen deep scratches all but disappear with a little wet sanding and experienced machine polishing and he is trading the car in so a respray isnt desirable.

its hard to tell with the pic and scratches always look worse when fresh

Thanks guys, Looking at about €250 + VAT to fix :(

Would it be ok to leave for a couple of weeks to you reckon (could wax over it) as funds are tight right now

No prob leaving it until you can get it fixed.

If it's down to the metal, you need to seal it to prevent corrosion. Buy an aerosol of similar colour paint, mask around it and dust a layer on. It'll look butt ugly, but it'll be protected. The full repair later on will sort the cosmetics.
