Dehydration

For a year i suspect i have been mildly dehydrated.

4 to 12 months ago i would have been drinking lager regularly, almost daily, and a few cups of coffee with about 10 cigarettes a day.

i may have only been drinking one pint of water a day and little other fluids.

i have dark pronounced circles under my eyes that i suspect is a direct result of this.

i have upped my daily water intake to about 3 litres, quit smoking and dramatically reduced coffee and alcohol consumption.

the dark circles are slowly reducing more due to the extra water im drinking than the other factors i suspect as i used to have dry flaky skin that disappeared when i drank more water.

what is a good amount of water for a young active male to consume daily.

i feel like i urinate all the water i drink out 20 minutes after drinking it and so the body may not absorb as much as it needs. I feel isotonic drinks are absored by the body better but they are very high in sodium which can make dark circles worse.

    other info:
    circles not herideritary
taking ferrograd for anemia (previous history)
    am fairly active
rarely eat fruit and veg (vitamin k?)

reposting as i feel i have narrowed down the cause of the dark circles to prolonged mild dehydration.

assuming 3 litres a day is enough how long until physical dehydration effects are reversed?

    all advice appreciated.
