Ladies Golf recommendations in cork?

I've taken up some golf recently, still learning.
I haven't played since last summer.
Ive played a few times the 9 hole outside Kinsale with a work colleague.
    I enjoyed this.

I'd like to play some more but none of my friends are into Golf and I don't know too many that are members of other clubs.

So basically is there any club in cork that is best for Ladies to join,
    I'm in my 30's?
Are there any beginner groups that play together?
Its a bit daunting joining somewhere when you have no contacts etc.

I'm living in the western side of the city.
    all suggestions welcome. thanks

Most ladies sections in clubs are active and friendly. A lot will depend on your budget for joining fees etc. Western side of the city would lend itself to Lee Valley , in my opinion a great course and a nice club . Muskerry not a favourite of mine as a course for ladies , but thats just my personal opinion. Bandon , great. but maybe too far for you ? Blarney ladies not very active and dont enter teams so I would nt advise that. Are you working ? Is that southside too ? That might need to be a consideration too ? Check out what day is ladies day in the club you are interested in , and also what playing right you have on the weekend.

well I'm flexible enough on the club.
Can travel a bit within reason.
Id have a look at potential clubs first and then see how much it would be
I am working mon-fri and I'm living near bishopstown.
    thanks for the help

lee valley is a fine track not sure of lady membership/or blarney is ok for beginners,
last year they ran ladies beginner classes by club pro
so it would be a good way to begin if this was available again
also they pay by the month so....if you no like, easy to ditch

my mum is joined the 9 hole course in kinsale, ringenane. She only took up golf a couple of years ago in her 60's.

Loves it down there and there's a great social aspect to the ladies club down there too. Loads of competitions and she knows virtually everyone down there these days after 2 or 3 years. Would recommend this as an intro to the game.

Is it appropriate to ask are you hot??? :)

I have recently starting playing again, East Cork Golf Club in Midleton has a strong ladies section as far as I know, is friendly and they are also competitive in the Ladies teams for those looking for competition. They would also be reasonably inexpensive to join.

I am told Waterrock has ladies members only, male golfers are pay as you play only, apparently when Harbour Point closed 2 years ago Waterrock permitted their ladies to start a club there, they moved to waterrock essentially, or so I am informed.

That 9 hole in Kinsale is a bit of a hill, I imagine you would get tired of walking up it fairly quickly.

Playing with other beginer groups may be more comfortable but can slow down your progress, blind leading blind and so on, don't be afraid to play with better players on occasion, it might seem daunting but shouldn't be, all golfers hit bad shots sometimes and we all know what to expect from any beginner players, its a good way to sharpen your game by playing with good ball strikers.

    Lol mr.mickels....I wish I could say I was :p
But I am a nice person though

Thanks for the help and info, will go check those out.
Ringenane is the one in Kinsale I was referring to.
Long term Im not sure if I'd go with it, I think I'd get tired of 9 holes after a while and yes that hill, although its perfect for starting off as its never too busy

Might get out on some of those other courses over the coming weeks to see how they are before taking the plunge.
    thanks

East Cork is fine for a beginner and is one of the few in Cork with a good club atmosphere. It also teaches the need to keep the ball straight. It's not a great course, especially for any longer hitter, but what are the alternatives in Cork for under €1k a year without entrance fee and with a decent ladies section???
Douglas and Cork Golf are over €10k to join, as is Monkstown, and no club atmosphere to speak of in any of them that I ever noticed. I don't know about Waterrock fees but would be worth looking into, but in reality its not a very good course either, probably fine for ladies and other short hitters, but is short and very bland. You are looking at driving further then to the likes of Bandon, which isn't brilliant either, and I don't know what its like for ladies in the new Blarney course. And the hill in Kinsale is a bit much, and I know the club atmosphere is very poor there also, and is over €1k plus entrance fee, and is rumoured to be in financial difficulty, well down on members with large debts to repay, thats the parent club but they run both ringenane and the 18 hole.
Douglas would be a nice course to play but hardly worth the entrance fee, and their club atmosphere is very dead too.

Anyway good luck in choosing, most clubs are looking for new members since 2008..........and I am sure you being very modest

As an FYI, Mallow club was launching a membership drive earlier this year ~ 1000e to join.
