I did the Westport 1/2 last year and had never gotten above 12km and I finished it. In the Connemara 1/2 I did probably less running and finished that so I would say you will be sound.
Have a wedding myself that day so have to pass on it, but hopefully will mark it down for next year.

    Thanks

I did this race last year, very well organised - great course with the forest been a nice addition to the road and the goody bag has to be seen to be believed. I plan on doing it again this year will just wait and see if the body is up to it after London last week - should be ok though

Never raced in Ballina but if it takes in the Belleek Woods as well as the river then I wish I was there. A lovely part of the world.

I walked the route tonight - it's a lovely race. Did it last year but not around for it this year. Lovely race and well organised. Agree about the goody bag!

Would love to have done this as it would have been my home town race but I signed up for Kildare forgot about Ballina. It would be a lovely route alright running through Belleek and then down by the river.

    Defo a race for 2012

Just collected my number this evening and the "goody" bag is jam packed. Just gone through it - not sure why there is a Cif Anti-bacterial multi surface cleaner included but why not. Lot of other things cereal, Luzozade, Juice, a Knorr Stock pot  , some chocolate, sweets, Flaxseed and lots of flyers for various local shops & services. I'm tired after going through it.....

Here's hoping the rain stays off in the morning!!!

1.58 ish ..cant say im thrilled with that..was going well up to 16k and then for some reason the wheels came off .. slowed the pace and seemed resigned to trotting in for the last 4k..got a bit stuck in a rut i suppose... got a bit peed off by all the people passing me and at around 1k or bit less i started striding and discovered i had more in the tank than i thought..so passed a few back .. still was hoping for 4-6 minutes quicker than that.. ah well only the second time ive run over 10k ever so i cant expect much... fair play to all involved..well run..plenty of stewards..spectators..good spread afterwards..the oranges and bananas at the finish were lovely..and all the grub in the rugby club
couldnt find me mp3 player this morning..maybe the music wouldve helped me at the end..maybe not..will have to do another one to find out..

The technical top was nice, a lot better than last year's cotton one. The stock cube was puzzling, thought about adding it to the lucozade before the race. I like these friendly , local events. Well organised and a lovely course, apart from the few miles out the killala road against the wind, rain and traffic. My second half marathon. Did 1.54 here last year, so i was delighted with 1.43xx. Next year I might actually train for it, longeest run this year was 10k so I tried 14k last week and decided I was ready:).
