    Cultural and Educational Panel
    Elected
    Deirdre Clune FG
    Labhras O Murchu FF
    Thomas Byrne FF
    John Gilroy Lab
    Michael Mullins FG

    Agriculture
    Elected
    James Heffernan Lab

    The count continues tomorrow.

The election of 43 Senators is decided by 880 City and County Councillors the outgoing senators and current sitting TD's. So about 1100 people have a vote. What I have found interesting is that in the currently finished panel, cultural and educational, Sinn Fein have voted entirely for the FF candidate Labhras O Murchu. A bit surprising considering their pre-election criticism.

If its ok with the mods maybe this thread can be used to debate the ongoing results as well as providing update with the results, that are ongoing.

Sounds like a voting pact. Probably see FF voting for a SF candidate on another panel.

I heard Susan O'Keefe has been elected but cannot confirm this.

Many of the Senators in the last Seanad were elected with SF votes - Mark Daly got pushed over the line by SF votes this time around too.

This election is proving to be very satisfactory for FF. Its looking like they will have four candidates elected to the Ag panel - that's a great performance. I was expecting two and maybe three with a bit of luck.

So far FF have six elected out of two panels.

They have twice the amount of councillors as Labour and some extra gene pool councillors. The Seanad is completely unfair, Leitrim County Council has the same amount of councillors as Fingal County Council, despite Fingal having over 10 times the population. Rewards the parish pump party that is Fianna Fail.

Its looking like FF will get three seats comfortably on the Labour panel. The in-house vote management is impressive, I would have initially thought two seats is what FF would be guaranteed on this panel.

Anyone who wagered a bet that FF will pick up four seats on this panel may be in with a bit of luck - real chance of FF getting four seats if the vote management keeps up along with the trend of candidates picking up floating votes.
