    Hey,
The other day my car wouldnt start, I tested it with a simple battery tester and it was empty so I jumped it and drove around for an hour or so on the motorway.
After this the tester showed the battery to be full (and also that the alternator was charging it (naturally!))
However the next day the battery was dead again. I repeated the same procedure and again dead the next morning.
I then topped up the battery and repeated the procedure, but again its dead this morning.

Any other ideas? Car is a 98 1.8 Avensis but the battery isnt that old (maybe 3/4 years)
How much am I looking for a new one? Halfords were looking at €80 but Im assuming they are to be had cheaper? (I'm in Dublin)

Any motor factors will most likely do you a cheaper battery than halfords. Before I go buying a new one, have the battery checked properly to see if there's any dead cells etc... It may not be the battery at all an could be an electrical problem draining the power.

    Most likely the battery though.

4 years is a good life for a car battery. If the battery is over 3 years and giving trouble, replace it. It will probably kill your alternator if you continue using it.
