    Hi,

    We have two young boys who will be off to primary school in eighteen months and we're having trouble deciding on local school options.

    I wondered if anyone had experience of any of these three schools:
    St Vincent de Paul / Scoil Mhuire, Marino;
    St Brigid's, Killester;
    Belgrove, Clontarf.

    The first two are closer to us, but we've heard great things about Belgrove.

    Any impressions, good, bad or indifferent, would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    BoysDAD.

    Hi

    I've a 10 year old who goes to belgrove. He was in the Junior school when Mr Conway was there (its Mr O'Sullivan now) but I found it to be a great school, better than the belgrove girls school if I'm honest. I couldn't say I know much about the other schools you've mentioned. Belgrove is in the middle of construction work at the moment, should be a great building come sept 11. Theres something for all the boys there I think, sports, drama, music etc. My son was very quiet and shy type but he really came out of himself.

    Interesting to hear your view tyview about yer son who was quiet and shy as we now have a little boy who will be 4 next month and we've more or less decided to send him to Belgrove as we live close-by. However, the montessori teacher seems to think that he could find it tough there and one get as much nurturing in such a large school. She says that recently his confidence has grown considerably which it has and she'd hate to see all that hard work undone. My wife isn't too keen on the greenlanes option that the montessori teacher is strongly recommending.
    My thinking is that he's breaking away from his shy timid side and with more time with Daddy which he's been getting the last 6 months he could do well in Belgrove and not wither away. Its not easy deciding is it? I know there's hundreds pushing to get into Belgrove and then choosing a good secondary in the Norf side is even harder.

    hi Fuzzman,

    Did you make a decision?

    We're looking at a house in the area and are considering school options at the moment.

    Cheers,
    Quad
