What would be an appropriate greeting for a cover letter where only the name of the organisation is available.

'To whom it may concern' may also be used

I sent a cover letter to a 'Dear Sir/Madam' there yesterday. Looked back over the job spec where it said 'Refer to x in your cover letter'.

    Brilliant.

    Ouch, that hurt.

    Anyway, still best of luck.

It may be a bad idea but when I didn't have a name I usually used "Dear [campany name]-team"
No problems with it so far....

I was going to send them an email saying how I made a mistake in the cover letter. Thankfully I decided not to, a bit Ricky Gervais. Unless, of course, I emailed them a facepalm meme, though I doubt that would boost my chances...

    Hmm....most likely not.

Maybe you're application is so great they'll overlook it, everyone makes mistakes!
