Backpayment for new claim

Hi all,
I've just gotten my first payment for casual working time but it was only for one week - I thought that your claim was backdated to when you applied? I've been borrowing money to live for the past two months and was really hoping to pay those people back. On the form I got to say I was approved it said that the means applies from the 4th of March.

Does this come seperately or is it not back dated anymore?

It may come separately, best thing for you to do is contact your sw office and see if this is the case.

I'm in the same position, I'm actually waiting for 2 backdates. One I think I will never get and one is from the 7th March for 4 weeks. Been waiting 4 weeks for it now. I was told it would come eventually.......

Not to start a new thread on this, does anyone have any experience of how long it takes for Disability Allowance back pay to come through. Say after the first weekly payment.

And is it payed directly into an account or by post.

I was waiting 33 weeks for social welfare got it all back dated tho but it took an extra few weeks

So you'd think a month is too soon to worry?

Do you mind me asking is it by post they pay you the backpay.
