PC World Exchange?

Hope I'm in the right place here, but I'm just wondering about other boardsie's experience with this place (if any?!)?

My ancient laptop crapped about 2 weeks ago, I'm broke and couldn't wait, so I stupidly went into PCWorld and bought the best thing I could see on the shelves for my budget, €600. Now, if I'd had time and a head on straight I would have bought it online but I ended up with this and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with exchanging anything in PC World even if the pc isn't faulty per se?

The fan drives me mental. MENTAL.

I know, I know, what did I expect, etc, but, I'm just wondering etc.

    Cheers all!

If the fan is running all the time there may be be an overheating issue. Your under the 28 days for bringing something back where they'll do the whole send off for repair 3 times (which you don't have to agree to) policy so you should be in luck.

Bring it back with your receipt and demand a refund/replacement or....PC World have a forum on Boards here, start a thread there and see what Declan has to say.

    Don't buy HP laptops.

Thanks a million for getting back to me, I might just do that! The fan is on from noon to night.

    Cheers again!

Delete this thread before the fella from the PC world team finds it and realises the real reason that you're looking for a refund;)

I am looking for a refund!

Seriously, the fan is driving me mental and a I've compared it to a mate of mine's laptop which is 3 years old and a similar model and the sound difference is obvious.I mean, if you have a laptop a week, doesn't matter what model it is, it shouldn't sound like the hard drive is about to fail.

Anyway. Maybe I'll delete it? I just want some good advice and a decent laptop.
    That's all!

I found it! How did it all finish? People can misunderstand the 28 day thing. All that means is that, if you bring the product back with a fault within 28 days, we'll verify the fault and swap out straight away and send the product back to the supplier. After 28 days it,s a repair.

Why does the op think that we wouldn't take a jammy fan seriously as I'm assuming it had to be faulty. And why would online be any better?

lol, how did you come across this after two months??

Here is the thread from the PC Forum, you've probably seen it by now.

Bit late in the day, no?! Good thing I wasn't waiting on a response or anything...:D

Sure it's sorted now. Brought it back to the shop, the hard drive was a dud and the motherboard was apparently faulty as well out of the box-which was from another model. All very peculiar.

Got an ASUS from Komplett and I'll never look back.

P.s I posted this thread because I got some of the most unhelpful customer service I've ever had from the PCWorld c.care line who basically said if I'd opened the box my product came in, a refund or exchange is not guaranteed.
I've since bought other products in PC World but I'd be a bit wary of buying a ''reduced'' laptop at the moment in there.

That's just my experience, I'm sure others rave about the establishment.

Just exploring really. I've an agreement with boards that I post on our own forum and on any other threads that reference our business, so I occasionally search under Currys or PC World and see if I can assist or clarify anything. I don't know if our use of language is necessarily great at times, as we're not very good at saying that a faulty product brought back to us within 28 days or purchase is automatically refunded, whereas after that time it goes into our repair process. Simple to write but apparently not that easy to say.

So the exploring is useful as i need to think about how we can do this better.
