Subwoofer Problem

    I recently hooked up a woofer to my car with a 300watt amp. works great except it becomes less powerful when i have the car turned on compared to when i just have the ignition turned on.. battery problem perhaps?

    any ideas appreciated :)

    yea pal that'll be the battery have you tried topping the cells in the battery up with tap water??

    yep made no difference :( it even happens when the key is turned 2/3rds of the way know what i mean?

    Strange on, it would normally be the other way around!
    Double check your ground locations and make sure they are on good clean bare metal. Also your rca cable's arent on the same side as your power cable are they?

    what car is it ?

    is the amp 400w rms or 400w max (if you dont know, the make and model of amp would be helpful)

    From what point in the car did you connect the 12 volt positive supply. This ideally should be taken off the battery and suitably fused.

    yes rca's and power cable are on the opposite sides..

    Powered from the batter with built in fuse in the wire

    ahh how did i guess..... ive seen this before , turn the amp down notch from full volume and it always sits at that level then

    its a design issue with the amp , dont know why it does it
