    Intresting topic here.
With Prince Harry ready to marry a commoner Kate Midleton, I can only imagine that she will let him down.
Once settled will she be sitting on a wall outside the palace, chatting her mates, texting other mates in her pajamas flicking fag butts and drinking cheep Carling?
Would you marry someone below you for instance upper class to middle class - middle class to working class or god forbid working class to lower class / commonor?

Lower than me? Do you mean a troglodyte or subterrean dweller of some sort?

I was born in the slums of Tallaght amongst the greasy wheeler dealers of the working (or not working) class but I bought myself a BMW and an iPhone to give the illusion of middle class. Who do I get to marry?

Personally, I've no time for this snobbish "no mixing attitude" - its a load of bollox.
If your lucky to find the right person that matches your personality and somehow manages to put up with your daily faults and schite - and still loves you, one should be damn grateful no matter what or where they come from!

My current wife came from a rough, low background (to say the least) and I couldn't give a rats backside - I love her, she puts up with me and thats that!
    End of story.

If two people make themselves happy, its decent (not a 16 year old with a 65 year old if you know what I mean), legal and love each other - stuff what everyone else says - good luck to you!

Probably someone with a BMW and an Iphone as well, so neither will get jealous of what the other has.

As far as I'm concerned if you don't own an iPhone you have no class at all.

What year is this?1860?Do you live in a big house in the country and keep servants?

My boyfriend is just about the same height as me, so we're pretty much equal.

Serious answer- Class doesnt matter to me as long as he's not a scumbag. And I know a lot of scumbags who have plenty of money and classy parents, so its more a personality thing!

99 actually....Does that bump me to upper middle?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,975 ✭✭✭W.Shakes-Beer

Yeah all that class shíte is rubbish.

As Biggins said, if you're lucky enough to find someone who ticks all your boxes and loves you back, surely thats the point of a relationship then?

    EDIT: Oh and sex! :pac:

Generally using a time weighted equation based on the previous 300 hundred years with three components; inflation adjusted wealth of your antecedents, the extent of their property ownership, and owned or blood relationship to noble titles.

Women seem more obsessed with marrying up... either in terms of class, money or looks.

Can you think of any woman you know who is married to a lower class, poorer and worse looking man.

The class stuff is only a load of rubbish in the sense that it still exists.
Class is still very prominent in Ireland.

In answer to the question, I would say yes.
    I'd put myself at lower-middle.

Yes, the pickings are too slim from mine class.
Then again I am not terribly classy. In fact my exes would be from less well off back grounds but be far classier than I. Except one actually, I was the lady and gent in that relationship.

I'm upper-working class, so that only leaves the dole scroungers and criminal class, I suppose.

Love conquers all though, so I wouldn't allow class to be a barrier.
