Anyone had any success doing this? Was thinking of taking it with me on my flight but will exceed the luggage weight restrictions.

Don't ship it if it's the only thing!

If you can pack it well bring it on the flight and take the excess baggage cost. Most carriers have a flat fee for a bike which is less than the usual excess fees. Don't forget to insure it.

If it's not too expensive, say less that 500 euro, I'd leave it/sell it, and buy a new bike in Aussie.
