Price is good(cheapest I could find it elsewhere in UK/RoI was for €185 on Komplett), however the forums are full of people unhappy with it.

    Two reviews here:
    http://www.fudzilla.com/reviews/item/20851-acryan-playon-hd-reviewed
    http://www.trustedreviews.com/A-C-Ryan-ACR-PV73100-Playon-HD-Media-Player_Peripheral_review

One says its noisy but the other says its ok. Other than that it gets great reviews. I wonder could you put xbmc on it?

In case you are unaware, you can get an AppleTV2 for less and put XBMC on it. The hardware is technically inferior I guess, and XBMC for iOS is a work-in-progress, but after replacing parts in my other system several times I opted for the fanless/noiseless/lower temp option of the ATV2. See the XBMC for iOS forum for details.

Yeah but you still need storage for your media.

Is it any good? Looking for something under 100€ with storage and the ability to play .mkv files

Think I'll give this a miss after the initial temptation.

There is a reason ibood tends to flog off stuff, sometimes.

Seems to have issues with MKV for a start.
For now I will just keep mu eye on this and see what the reviews are like.

ive never had an issue with any of the mkv's ive tried on my playon hd,and ive tried loads believe m8,down mixes dts audio for anyone thats not conecting to an amp great bit of kit for me but i do realise that plenty of others have had issues but for me its played everything i can throw at it

i have it for almost 2 years now ( since back on the days when it was a 20-30 days waiting list on komplett)
never had a problem with it and played all the mkv, iso and rmvb just fine.
the only drawback is that the software for it didn't get so full of options and user friendly like xtreamer.
..otherwise, great piece of work! ( way above wdplayer or popcorn hour)
