All of them had potential to continue on for many years more than they did...

If they could've brought Richard Dean Anderson back in full time, then I'd completely agree...
Any of the Star Trek series' could've continued longer as well... I really think we're due another Star Trek sometime soon...

Lost wasn't cancelled. They planned for 6 seasons before season 4 and followed through to the end.
Edit: Sorry, you said cancelled/ended. :)

Firefly, Terminator:TSCC and Freaks and Geeks for me.
I'd also say The Inside and The 4400.

We may be due one but we won't see one any time soon. Only a few weeks back Jonathan Frakes was turned down by CBS when he pitched them a new Star Trek Series. Both Bryan Singer and William Shatner have had new Star Trek series turned down in recent years with the thinking from CBS being that any new series could hurt the next film finincially through an oversaturation of the market.

The Wire. My favourite programme ever. In fairness, it probably did end at the right time, and the story was well wrapped up. Doesn't stop me from missing it though.

I'd think in order to fully "miss" a TV series I'd need to have watched it in it's original run.

    BSG & Rome.

Although BSG ran to its natural ending I thought there was a lot more left in the show,

It was criminal that Rome was canceled so they had to squeeze 3 seasons into season 2.

Its unfortunate, a new tv series would be great. If they are going to wait for another film or two, I'd say it'll be at least another 5 years before we see a new series.

    Firefly
Buffy(last few series were ****e, but I missed the old Buffy)

    I really cant believe that
    1. Heroes was mentioned. I loved season one but after that it went downhill. The last season showed potential but too little too late and there was too much stuff that went in the previous series that it just got messy.

    2. Pushing daisies has not been mentioned. Love that show and have season one on dvd still and it is just brilliant. Pity they rushed the ending.
