    Hi Umpire,

Whats the course like? Flat or hilly?

    Thanks

I can only imagine that it'll be flat. No hills around Trim, especially if it's around the river.

I didnt do it last year but have run many times around the Porche Fields but if it is on the paths it is flat, but if it is around the Fields themselves there are few hills, nothing too bad, just to get the legs moving :D

No steep inclines, a few 200- 300 m drags. Parts of the route have been variuosly used for Meath xc in recent years. Hosted Leinsters 3 times on 70s/ Days when Dessie McGann, Paddy Coyle were to the fore. Race starts at Steeple and returns along Boyne banks fro the cathedral ruins at Newtown.

Congrats to everyone involved from Trim A.C in staging a very enjoyable 5k trail run. Brilliant turnout of almost 500 on a lovely summers evening...wasn't looking that way around lunchtime though! The only negatives were that the start and finishing needs to be re-gigged.....there was no countdown and some were caught on the hop while there was a bit of a tight start going through that 1st gate with a couple of fallers in the melee. The finish for people in around the 1/2hr stage became overcrowded and many people lost their position but apart from that it was a really great race and atmosphere was terrific. Shows that clubs always run the best races.

2 people slipped at the start....its a trail run and they had 500 running it....understandable especially since it rained heavily earlier. Some people lost their position in the run-in as they hadn't figured on so many taking part and the processing was slowed up by people from other races giving out info from up-coming events in the queue.....an easy fix for next year....countdown is also minor. The positives are its a great route, fantastic atmosphere, very reasonable (€12 on-line or €15 on the night), great cause (Special Olympics), sandwiches, tea, cakes and water afterwards along with free-massage of so needed......and there was no need to be sarky with your PR consultant jibe.

Next up in Meath Running League is the Dunshaughlin 10km and the South O Hanlon 5km.
