WASHINGTON: Arnold Schwarzenegger, who made a seamless transition from Hollywood film stardom to California governor, could have his sights set on a new job as next head of the European Union, US media reported.
The Austrian-born former body builder, 63, at loose ends as he tries to figure out what his next act should be, reportedly is being advised by aides to return to his native Europe to run for the EU presidency, Newsweek reported.

Is this the guy who once expressed his admiration for the nazis?.. I wonder what his chances are.

Never once in the source you provided did he state he wants to be the president of the EU, rather it is an article that is merely speculating based on baseless events and comments.

However, if and when he decides to run for the office, I am sure it will be quite interesting alright.

He's known to smoke it on occasion anyway!!

I thought he was returning to acting? He's not a great actor but you can't fault his dedication. I'm not sure how he's performed as Governor (the little I've read on his work as Governor suggests poorly but I don't follow Californian politics much!) but I'd imagine he's a good politician simply because he dedicates himself completely to his work. Silly voice but a great man.

I can't see it ever happening. He's lived the majority of his life in the US and he's married to a woman who is part of the Kennedy family.

Most of those who voted for him probably have Alzheimer's anyway. They probably couldn't remember what they ate for lunch, never mind Palpatine's Nazi past.

He did not bankrupt Cali FYI . He is considered by all sides to have done a decent job, considering the job he was given. He could be no worse than anything we produce.

He is a U.S citizen now and was the governer of a U.S state. Whether he is the right man for the job or not, he shouldnt be allowed to be the EU president. Even if he reclaimed his Austrian nationality, the fact that he was a high level politician in a non EU state should automatically rule him out.

Doesn't he have to be European...?

I wonder what the Austrians think of this idea - as far as I know, they've disowned him.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Well considering there is no such thing as the President of the EU Newsweek are spouting rubbish. Perhaps they mean president of the European Parliament, or president of the Council of Europe or president of the European Commission, or president of some of the other EU institutions. Subject ..... t e r m i n a t e d.

Yeah, I thought they disowned him after he refused to grant clemency for some guy who murdered four people and was being put to death?
