Ringsend to airton road (tallaght) for work?

Hey all, looking for some information on what the commute by car is like for someone (me) living in Ringsend/Irishtown and interested in working in the Broomhill industrial estate in Tallaght?

And which way would be best? I'm not sure if I could go in early so assuming a 9 or clock start and a half 5 finish, would I be best getting there via the crumblin/drimnagh road, redcow etc, or turning at harolds cross on to the n81 and getting there via harolds cross, rathgar, templeouge etc. ?

The aa planner reports ( http://www2.aaireland.ie/routes_beta/ ) only tiny differences in time (and much lower estimates that bing/google map directions for some reason) but of course this doesn't take into account traffic and such. Is traffic out of town busy in the morning? Is traffic out of tallaght into town busy in the evening?

I would have thought a national road would have be quicker, no?
What sort of journey times am I looking at from the ringsend/irishtown area?

As you are going against the main flow, it shouldn't be too bad, although I imagine there would be some junctions that are bad. Journey planners tend to not take congestion into account. Avoid the College Green Bus Gate. Be aware that Terenure can be a pain at times - possibly better to use Kimmage or dare I say Walkinstown. No need to go to Red Cow.

Dublin Bus routes 50 and 77 (not so much 56a or 77a) go from Ringsend Garage to Tallaght, passing by on Airton Road and Mayberry Road.

I think try it a few tiems before you start.

hey thanks for the reply, yeah I'm totally out of the college green loop methinks, If I go the n81 way, I'll only slightly pass through terneure I think.

He's the route I'm thinking of :

ringsend to tallaght via n81

traffic would mostly be coming the other direction in the morning and evening, I assume but don't know the n81 at all. I'm only driving two or three months so another variable in this is that the most direct route would stop me from getting lost, so that's another plus for n81, over perhaps via the crumlin road way. cheers.

Try and avoid Terenure/Templeogue if possible. Might be worth trying it for a few days if you're going against the flow though. Going with the flow can be 20 minutes waiting in terenure alone.

I drive from Ringsend to the RedCow via the canal all the way to the Davitt Road then turn left down Naas road dual carriageway. Much faster than Crumlin Road/Longmile except if schools are off. Take's about half an hour (I leave between 8.15-8.30). From there should only take another 10-15 mins south on the M50 to Tallaght.
