Which Primary School Teaching College Would You Recommend?

    Hi!

I'm thinking of doing primary teaching next year provided I get the points.
I was just wondering out of Froebel, St Pats and Mary I which one is the best because I really can't choose! I'm from Wexford :D

I like Froebel because I like the idea of smaller classes and you'll get to know the lecturers better and also I like how its moving to Maynooth in 2013

Pats seems to be the more popular choice for students though and the degree is 3 years, also you get to do irish/religion/french/maths/english/geog/history.

Mary I looks to have very good facilities and they do teaching practice in pairs which sounds cool.

I'm just wanting the student perspective on each of the colleges cos i'm really unsure which one to have as my first choice :D

    thanks

Going on the recognition of each for interviews as a qualified teacher, Mary I is rated and respected the highest followed by Marino/Trinity Joint degree
    St. Patrick's College,
    Froebel,
    Hibernia
And Church of Ireland (can't teach in most Catholic Schools, without further study)

Na i'd say there's plenty of space left there alright.. they normally accomodate all the first years anyway.. last year we all fitted in anyway!

My sister went to Marino, loved it! It's a very specialised college, completely focused on education, and has great facilities! She's just going into fourth year now, but they have a great focus on teaching practice, working on projects and trying to make some lazy, alcoholic students into proper teachers! :p
But with all honesty, she absolutely loved it, and it's in a great college area, you have Griffith College and DCU nearby, and in the on campus accomodation they had students from RCSI, DCU, DIT (Kevin's Street usually) and a few others that I can't think of, as well as load of Marino students! But it's a very community feel to the college, the lecturers are good and are happy to help anyone!

I'd be tempted to go... But I don't have the temperament to deal with little people! :pac:

There's a new Primary Teacher Training forum which might be of interest to some posters here. We're hoping to get <tags> for the different colleges when it's up and running properly.
