Myself and Jb had a many a chat in the pub about foxing shooting. He works in the pub trade, so he has not got out in a while so we set a date for tonight being good friday night. I gave my two lamp men a shout and we all met up at ten o clock. It was a lovely night so all 4 of us took off walking, chatting and swapping stories along the way. The two young lads had been doing some reci for the last week or so & they led the way
We walked about a half a mile to an old lane, opened the gate at the end of it & proceeded down switching on the u-caller scanning the field with the LF 170. I had the P7 on my rifle on low setting to light our path as tree's each side of the lane witch made it quite dark.
Spotted some eyes in the distance, but a quick look through the scope it was some ponies in tall rushes in co. Mayo:p
On a little bit further two more eye's, i opened bipod rested on a stone wall and had a look, fox alright, but a long way off & the far side of the river. We kept the caller on, & then then 100 yards in front of us a group of cattle & 20 yards in front of them a standing under a tree a fox. JB lined it up in the cross hairs from standing position CRACK! from the hornet. Here's the result

Would you not consider it dangerous to shoot so close to livestock?

It's part and parcel of where we hunt. But we know the area very well. Most of the livestock belong to one of us or a relation of ours

Cows not so bad, hefiers are a law onto them selves

I often shot bunnys in my Da's field and the cattle would not raise their heads after the shot (bullocks not bolloc*s )
