Ok i know it's a bit early but after i get a new bike (god knows when that will be) i've decided the next thing i want off santa is this mother of all tool boxes.

Wee bit pricey i'll admit but still u get what u pay for, mind u i'd have to make sure my new bike costs more than the tool box though wouldn't i ?

Hmmm so not sure if the wife would be too happy about having to keep a new bike and a new tool box in the house though !

Are you making a bid to be the new go-to-guy for all boardsies bike maintenance needs? Cause if not, that's an indulgent set of kit, mate!

Not sure if anyone would be willing to pay the prices i'd have to charge to justify buying that piece of kit !

This clearly would need to be a high volume, long term business model...

So what bike do you have that justifies having Park Tool equipment for both Campy and Shimano specific componentry, featuring bb styles both old and new, as a matter of interest?!

For that price youd think youd get a snap-on stlye box with it

Only a Colnago with Campy Centaur on it, but would like to try Sram on the next bike so there's my justification for the tool kit ;)

Anyone who would consider spending over five grand in a bike shop and not expect to have either something incredible to ride, or a wardrobe full of gear to look awesome in should be sectioned.

That toolset doesn't even have any carbon fibre in it FFS.

I've seen the same toolset ("tool kit" just doesn't seem adequate to describe it!) for a little over 3,000euro some time last year. I can't recall where now, as I wasn't planning to buy it any time soon, but it triggered that "oooh, a bargain, buy it" part of my brain where logic never reaches.

Having said all of that, I must admit to having acquired a large proportion of that set of tools over the years. I haven't estimated how much the individual tools have cost me in that time but I suspect it's a scarily large proportion of the cost of the full set. Mind you, they've saved me a lot by being able to avoid bike shop repair charges, so it's a bit swings and roundabouts. ...oh, and yes, they make me faster on the bike!*

    * ...well no, they don't strictly make me faster, but they've helped me keep my bikes working when I'd otherwise have had to resort to walking, so as cycling is faster as walking, it's kinda true!

You'll get it from the US for about €4,000.

But he won't need to ride anything - he'll have loads of tools to play with!;)

I'm the same built up the tools i need as i went along, any tools i don't have means i don't use them enough to justify buying them and i'd also probably know someone that has the tool i'd need.

Better being independent rather than having to rely on the local LBS.

Five grand sterling would get u one hell of a nice bike though never mind the tool kit.
