Looking for info on this motor rather than a "review" from a magazine. They have the same engine as the mercedes 300 TD far as i know. Their resale prices seem very low for what appear a luxury car? Anyone know why? I had mercedes 300TD and couldnt fault it. Any owners on here, or car lovers with any insight?

A mate of mine has a 06 one which he bought new, he's had no problems with it(120,000kms) so far, but the depreciation brings tears to his eyes.

So no experience then no? Good post

A neighbour has one and while the engine has been reliable he has had a few suspension problems, rattles a lot on the road but is a comfortable ride (only in it 3 times).

Nope, seemingly just a bit of chip on shoulder action going on.

A friend's father has one as a taxi, they both drive it, but his father more. Not heard any crazy bad reports about them. Been in them myself and driven one, was perfectly fine for a BIG slab of a car.

My da drives one, they're big and drink diesel, he's getting 23mpg around town. Recently had to go to Alasta motors in ringsend, it was down on power and needed a swirl motor, it cost €140 for the part and €460 on labour

Also needed a service, it takes two gallons in oil, also those tyre's are '18 inch not exactly cheap.

Interior is like sitting in a fancy Daewoo Matiz, very cheap, handles like a boat.

Honestly i wouldnt buy one as a taxi, they really dont make economic sense to drive half of Dublin pissed home on a Saturday nite.

My advice??? Toyota Carina E :D

That photo was taken by another taxi driver, got his permission to post it up here.

I'm still happily driving my 17 year old Corona, if i drove a Merc i'd be alot poorer than i am now!! :pac:
