    Hi,
Sorry if this is already covered somewhere, but I couldn't find it. I'm looking for a quote to restore the interior of a saab 900i (92) - not a classic I know but I reckon this forum would know.

    thanks

Is it leather or cloth and what's wrong with it? A friend of mine has interiors in cloth for 2, 4 and five door models in good condition if you want to change them altogether.

It's a cloth interior and while the seats are ok, it's the cloth on the ceiling is very worn from age and the sun. it's the 5 door model.

    thanks for the reply ali.

No problem, the roof cloths are a big problem tbh, very few upholsterers will get involved with roof cloths. Sorry I thought you needed seats or repairs to them.

It's actually not difficult at all. I had the rooflining on my old 3dr done, and it was a matter of a couple of hours.

Go to an upholstery store an find a suitable thickish but light headlining cloth.

Remove the ceiling shell from the car, if the car doesn;t have a sunroof, all the easier ;-). Being a five door, means the shell can be easily removed through the tailgate. Make sure not to damage it. Remove the old cloth, and now comes the messy bit, the material underneath the cloth, has become brittle and fluffy, this has to be scraped off and that's a messy job, but once done, it's easy to put on the new headling. Use professional aerosol, (or if you have access to an air compressor, use a spray gun!!) to slowly work your way over the headliner.

The small rear C-pillar sideposts are the trickiest, as they have the window on a five door!!! and that will take some fiddling....

I would most certainly not scrap an otherwise in good condition 900 just for the sake of the headlining!!!

Paul there's not a chance I'd have a go at that myself. But thanks for the info as it gives me some idea what's involved if I do find someone to do the work.
