You said they're in AVC format, like whizbang says, VLC should play it. But the MediaInfo is for a 3gp file?

Are you sure that's the MediaInfo for the right file? That looks more like a low-quality video from a mobile phone or something.

the media info there is for a .3gp file, presumably filmed on a mobile phone

if you're talking about saorview recordings, they should be .ts files (AVC/h.264 Transport Stream) and don't need converting to view, i'd recommend media player classic - home cinema to play them, vlc has some problems handling TS files - showing video length as 0:00:00 for one

Yeah I've seen trouble with .ts files also.

I've found that they play fine in Media Player Classic Home Cinema and in VLC once I convert them to mkv with eac3to (this is lossless, just copies the video and audio streams to an mkv container), using:

    eac3to input.ts output.mkv
