Portugal, Mongolia, now Switzerland

As the title may suggest, last January the road trip was to Porto, 10 days and serious craic, some of you may remember the thread:

July and August involved driving to Mongolia over 6 weeks, again serious craic.

So by now I'm hungry for tar, and trying to rally some troops for a road trip to Switzerland in early June. The plan is to hit Luzern and Vals among others, then finishing at the Rock am Ring festival at the Nurburgring in Germany, about 2000km one direction. Unfortunately the ring is closed for the week, so no possibility of combining the festival with a lap!

Plan is to sail Rosslare to Roscoff, but should the ferries to Holyhead work out considerably cheaper I've no doubt we'll be doing the monotonous drive across the U.K, yet again!

Getting the Volvo serviced this week, to ensure she's in prime condition.

Few questions for anyone who has driven to Switzerland before, is the border crossing between France and Switzerland, and Switzerland and Germany time consuming? I know there is numerous crossing, but just want a general idea. Does it take a few minutes or a couple of hours. I'm guessing it's not going to be as tedious as the Russian Mongolian border that took 3 days to cross! I'm just looking for general tips too, very helpful bunch on here for previous escapades. Thanks

maybe it depends on where you enter Switzerland but the border crossing is like driving through a bus stop - takes 0 time at all, unless they stop you. I was stopped once and they were very snotty with us, however we were camping so all our gear was thrown all over the car and they had just had some riots the previous day ! - so it was to be expected I suppose.
