Best of them after the 1st round is Gareth Maybin at -7 and currently one shot back.

Shane Lowry at -3
McGrane is -2
McGinley -2
Harrington is -1
Hoey is Level par.

Would be nice to see Maybin push on from here and get his first victory on tour.
Definetly good enough to win one.

Great round by Gareth Maybin. Shot a 65 first round, now lying 2nd.

Irish lads doing ok...even Shane Lowry getting into the tournament at -3.

Paddy Harrington at -1 ...although this would be outside the cut so he will need to pick up lots of birdies tomorrow.


Michael Campbell is really starting to emerge again with a good round of -5.

Talk on sky you will need to be up near -20 to win.

Harrington Misses the cut. Lowry just scraps the cut which is currently at -5.
Leading is currently -13 and Lawrie is one back and Maybin is two back.

even a person just making the cut can shot a low 60's they will have a chance on sunday

Delighted for Shane Lowry, this is the confidence boost he needs.

Peter Lawrie could have a chance this week, no bogeys yet and he is extremely consistent, deserves his shot at makin some majors.
