Social Welfare Sick Payment

I have recently been off sick from work for a long time, I was sending in my social welfare certs to my job at the time. I get paid sick pay when I am off sick but still need these SW certs.

.. anyway I have recently come back to work and 3 weeks ago got a remittance advice from SW stating my job was paid a substantial amount of money in my name to cover sick pay. Previously I had got a few quid of the money that was on the remittance advice. (e.g if I was sick for a week and I got remittance advice for €150 I might have got €20 or €30 in my pay cheque the following pay day... not this time though!)

Just wondering if anyone has come across this? The remittance advice was dated 31st March, do you think I am entitled to any of that money (as seemed to be the case before) and if so... how long does it usually take?

I really don't understand how the whole thing works to be honest.

I'm a little confused - were you on full pay while sick, and hoping for extra money on top of that?

If they paid your sick leave, then it would be standard for them to request that you transfer the SW payments over to them.

    From here:
If you are entitled to sick pay, your employer will probably require you to sign over any Illness Benefit payment from the Department of Social Protection to your employer for as long as the sick pay continues.

OP - perhaps the State benefits forum would have folks who could answer your question.
