Figured that the swimming forum would be the most suitable place to put this!

    Link
The National Aquatic Centre, which will host next week's National Swimming Championships, has announced that the British and Hungarian men's water polo teams will arrive in Dublin for London Olympic training and international fixtures at the beginning of June.

The NAC has already persuaded the US Olympic synchronised swimming team to use the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin for a training camp later this year.

Water polo is a national sport in Hungary and their men's team has won Olympic gold on three consecutive occasions, most recently in Beijing.

Both squads will provide training and coaching sessions at the NAC and two fixtures between both Hungary and Britain will also take place between the 5-8 June.

The 22-man Hungarian senior squad has more than 40 Olympic gold medals between them and talks are apparently underway to hold a four-team tournament next year for a new Dublin Cup of water polo, with Hungary and Serbia already expressing an interest in the event pre London.

Anyone going to go see the matches? Should be good to see!

Yeah I was told about it last week, will it be free in?

The plan is for both matches to be free entry. The Irish Water Polo Association (IWPA) will be organizing tickets which will most likely be register for free and pick up. This is merely for crowd control. It is expected that both matches will be 2,500 sell outs !

Great to see the Olympic Champions coming to Dublin !

    Spread the word

    Finnie at the NAC

    Finnie,
Tickets are being sold for €5 each. If your estimate of 2,500 people per night is accurate, then somebody is collecting €25,000 for admission to these training matches which are the equivalent of a pre-season friendly between Manchester United and Shelbourne.
A cover charge, even €5, will discourage people. I doubt that there will be more than 500 people at each game which is a shame.

What arrangements are being made for Members to train in the pools during this training camp and during the exhibition games?

I think you are mistaken regarding numbers...Waterpolo is a growing sport...the Hungarian team are great! all the youth teams are organising busload to attend..as are the senior teams...my advice is to get your tickets booked sharpish.

Hi all was onto Cara Mulcahy from the IWPA and she says that as of this morning there are 1300 tickets sold for the upcoming game this is mostly from the water polo community and the IWPA have had to pay the full costs of the Hungarians to come to Dublin flights, hotels, transfers, food etc
I personally think that its a fantastic opportunity to see the World and last 3 times Olympic Champs in Dublin its never been done before.
She is hoping for tremendous support from the Swimming community in general and also anyone with an interest in watching world class sports.
