Hi I'm 18 years old, going to dentist for first time in about 5 yrs or so tomorrow. I'm scared sh**less. My teeth are in awful condition, one of my molars has rotted away, it's been getting steadily worse the last few years but as a child I had awful experiences with dentists.

I know myself I must go, my front teeth are starting to rot too and I don't want to lose anymore teeth! Is anyone in a similar situation that can advise me? The work I need done will undoubtedly cost a fortune, and the lecture is the part I dread the most :(

Most dentists won't give you a lecture. Just explain the situation when you go in. They are very good at making sure your comfortable, afterwards you might even wonder what the fuss was about.

Some people have bad memories from childhood, but build it up much more in thier mind over a few years.
