Hi I know youre all sick of which bike threads so sorry in advance. I have a application in for the B2W scheme, I was going to buy a 2010 Felt Z100 at what I think is a good price €600 but I've been doing a lot of research since applying and am very tempted to change to the canyon 6.0 as it seems like a much better bike. just wondering if a) its possible? and b) whether I should?

(Semi looking for help easing my conscious here for spending more money thanks!)

I bought a Z100 a couple of weeks ago and really like it.

I would have loved to buy a Canyon, and I know they're much better value for the spec, but I bought the Z100 locally instead. I'll buy the Canyon another time

It's my first road bike so I have nothing to compare it to but I find it comfy and lovely to ride. The shifters are Microshift rather than Shimano but they change my gears and work my brakes and after that I couldn't care less. I'm sure there are improvements to be seen if I had a better groupset but I'm not sure I would be able to see them anyway

I'm sure someone will says it's an elephant at 9.2kg but I'm coming from a hybrid that weighed about 8 ton so it's a featherweight to me. I did 60km at an average of 24.4kmh on my 3rd spin on the bike and it felt effortless. Before that, all I did was 9km twice a day at about 18kmh average, so it's like a Ferrari to me.

"The bike can be purchased anywhere and not confined to Ireland. "

If your employer uses a 3rd party company to administer the scheme, they may restrict you to a few irish shops. The cnuts.

Its a 2010 in eurocycles, there was a sale on when I got the quote. Yeah I have a loan of a giant scr4 at the minute and it feels incredibly quick compared to my current mountain bike. I was just thinking the canyon would cost me roughly €500 as opposed to €300 it seems miles apart for €200 in my uneducated opinion. Thanks for your replies.

Its the dep of ed so I can buy anywhere but have already submitted my application, I'd imagine they'd accept a change as it prob hasnt even been processed yet!!

As far as I know Canyon don't operate in any Bike to Work scheme.

I emailed them and thats what they said, I tried to convince them there was a big market to be had, but they say they just want to deal direct to customer and pass teh savings to all.

Drop them an email, maybe they could be convinced to change their minds!!.

That's a different issue. There are some companies which are operating as brokers. They do the paperwork for the employer and take their cut by demanding a 10%+ discount from the bike seller. I can see why Canyon wouldn't want to get into that.

But the scheme itself can apply without Canyon having to be directly involved in it. All that's required is that the employer buys the bike direct from Canyon. Not too difficult to arrange, really. It would take a very obstructive HR department to object. I'm only saying.

Just got a bike through the Dept of ed myself. This is the supplier list.

I got mine with eurocycles and was not happly at all and still don't have a bike (ordered through the BTW in Jan - the dept takes ages to process), but they are now giving me a better bike to make up for the sh1t. Im not a fan of the z series felt myself - I just don't like the sloping toptube and already have an upgraded f95 atm. They don't offer that good of value for money as other makes.

If I was going to do it again, I do through wiggle and get a Focus cayo - Full carbon, 105 assembled delivered for e1182.

While Eurocycles are now sorting me out, which is great, I'd find it hard to recommend them considering the stoopid stuff they put me through:mad:.
