Interesting indeed, I wonder what will happen. Apparently they weren't paying their fuel bills, hence the avgas shortages over the last year.

How much of the development of the airfield actually has full planning permission?

Interesting Press Release from Mansfield in 2006 relating to planning permission etc.

    Shhhhh.

It is still the only place I have ever been told by instructor not to touch down, but keep going as runway was not actually legal.
Often wondered how many people landed close to the threshold on what was not legal runway ?

I am not allowed discuss …

I never knew that:eek: and did a spot of flying there

From memory this happened about at the very least 4 or 5 years ago (???) when getting refreshed rides.
Coming in on 07 I setup to land over the hedge and near the start of the runway.
Ok had done some farmstrip flying and coming in and landing at start of your runway had become the norm.
Just as flairing and about to touch down the instructor, shouts "don't land here, it's not registered". He told me to keep going and then when to touch down.
I hadn't seen any marking to indicate it was unlandable.
He told me it didn't really have planning.

Now I have flown in US, Canada, Oz, NZ, UK, Spain from grass strips, gravel strips, small airfields to regional airports and I never came across that.
