    Hi guys,

Im hoping to open my own Pet supplies, Groomers and Doggie day care centre this year, Iv just registered for a start your own business course which will be starting in may - I have no idea how to go about this so any hints or advice on starting a business would be great - hidden start up costs, taxes, employing a assistant etc

    Thanks :)

Best of luck with it.. Will be doing that course myself when it comes up again.

You would probably want to be a bit more specific on exactly what advice you are looking for on here. Lots of great advice on this forum!! I'm sure you will get all the info you need in the course too.

Currently attending a start your own business course with the local enterprise center. Its a good course that gives you the knowledge to allow you to start turning your idea into a reality. Much of it is simple, general advice but it opens you up to maybe new idea and approaches to your business. The course should only be a small step in the process, your expected to go on a bit further by maybe doing specific courses aimed at say accounting or whatever, but its a great start either way. If your only starting out id recommend hitting your local library, loads of content related to starting business as well as some interesting reads from individual entrepreneurs.

The best thing is that you've got the ball rolling by applying for the course. Building momentum is key and you have just taken that first step. Its all well and good dreaming and saying you'd love to do something, so fair play for getting up and giving it a go. Best of luck with your new venture.

    Hi Sue,

I would suggest you do your course first and get the knowledge that is contained in that. When that is completed, go speak to an accountant, we normally don't charge for the initial consultation which can be 2-3 hours in some cases so we would answer alot of questions.

In my experience, hiring an employee adds an awful lot of paperwork and hassle when starting out, so if you were able to do this by yourself starting off and then maybe expand a few months down the line I would advise that.

Hopefully this has been helpful and very good luck with your business.

    Bob
