    Hi, I'm a newbie with a question.
I'm a 38 year old woman and I go for a 5/6 mile run 4 days a week and maybe one extra at the weekend. I have 4 kids under 6 and a hubby who works away during the week so I'm really time short. I pay for child care to get out for a run so I don't want to pay again to use a gym.
    I run a 10 k in 55 so I'd say I'm moderate to quite fit.
I'm 5' 7.5" and weigh 10st 8. I've joined Weight watchers and stopped eating the kid's leftovers, so I'm loosing weight at the moment.

I think I'm totally coasting with the running and I'm only toned to a point. What can I do, outside of a gym, to work myself more, and tighten up my bum, tum and thighs?

Should I mix in some cycling?
Choose to run up more hills?
    Sprint and recover?
Run faster, and stop thinking I'm It and a bit for being a size 12 with four kids?
    You decide!

Wow, you sound as fit as a fiddle.
Only thing lacking would be some resistance stuff.
Instead of 2 of those runs, why not do this:

    Day 1:
Find a 50m hill and (work up to) 10 X Hill Sprints (sprint up, walk down, 20 second breather)
    3 X 10 Bodyweight squats
    3 X 10 push ups

    Day 2:
Find a 50m hill and (work up to) 10 X Hill Sprints (sprint up, walk down, 20 second breather)
    3 X 10 Bench tricep dips
    3 X 10 T-push ups
    60 second plank X 3

Probably only take you 30 minutes in total for the both days, and added to your running you would be positively olympian.

Fair play to you (can't be easy finding the time)!

    Thanks Robodonkey for your reply
I managed the push ups, but will have to google the others to get proper method. I live on a big hill so will def do that. How steep a hill? 1st gear or 2nd? Or does it matter?

I don't find the time to exercise, I take it. I was sick of moaning and groaning that my life was one big cycle of babies and caring for others and feeling that I was disappearing. I realized that no one was ever going to give me a break so I had to take it myself, and I've never looked back. Most of the time, running, for me, isn't about being fit, it's about being alone and feeling the wind in my face and staying sane. Love it, love it, love it but would like to look ok by the pool too, please!
