Take your ad off or write SOLD in the ad if the car is....sold. Its not difficult. Its a waste my time & your time.

Otherwise people will usually call about the car, which is generally what happens when you advertise a car on a website like done deal which advertises cars for sale.

Just calling about the car?....oh no sure thats gone?!! (he says as if im supposed to know)

Not blaming the website, just the occasional goofy seller.

    btw...

Add; Join (something) to something else so as to increase the size, number, or amount. Increase in amount, number, or degree.

    Ad; An advertisement.

Ha, I know it's true. Literacy is another topic that's been covered before as well.

Nevermind the spelling, some of the ads have the least amount of information possible!

How about this ad, they appear to have taken a photo of a print ad :

Ads with no mileage. Or details about the engine (beyond petrol/diesel).

Or with no specifics on the exact model or trim. Or condition.

Exactly, I think they think if they put "Lady owner" in it will sell quicker! :D

Goes to show sellers can be time waster too.
They probably put the ad on 4-5 different sites and as soon as car is gone they expect ad to magically update itself/forgot where they posted it.
I think that if ad hasn't been updated or kept alive once a week (for a busy site like donedeal) it should automatically set to Sold/Withdrawn. Similar to what adverts.ie do.

I dont understand private sellers putting SOLD SOLD into the ad/title...

I mean you have to log in to change that, why not delete the whole ad altogether?!??!? There must be a reason, I just done get it...

I can understand it for dealers operating through donedeal there may be some merit to keeping ads up for a while, but one off ads its baffling me!

a lot of people dont change the ad beciuse they are lazy.. simple...
once the item is sold, it is too much hassle for most people to log back on and change ad....

It could mean that someone has secured the car with a deposit but have not paid for it in full yet.

I sold my last car and the buyer secured it with a deposit, I updated the advert with "Sale Agreed". I was still getting inquires about it though.

My biggest pet hate about lazy sellers for me is those who put absolutely no effort into their advert. They take photos of the car in the dark so that you can see nothing but an outline or those that take photos of the car that is buried somewhere under snow or photos are cropped or upside down. Then you have the poor grammer or txt speak descriptions. Surely someone with 2 brain cells to rub together can spend 2 mins proof reading their advert or at least ask someone else to glance over it before publishing it?

I don't agree entirely about Ads that say "SOLD".

Reason is, I've sold cars the odd time and the sale falls thru' due to TimeWasters not returning etc eventho' they have a deposit down (yes, these gimps do exist).
After taking an ad down, and then have to relist it is a PITA, it's not about the €3 it costs, just the hassle.
It would be handy if DD had a feature where you could "rest" your ad or be able to save it and relist it without having all the hassle of re-writing and uploading all the pics again.

I will say tho' that if the sale is complete (cars gone and paid for) the ad should be removed.

I rang a guy selling a 2008 car on Donedeal a while back, which was being offered at a decent price (hence my interest) but the sellers story didn't exactly check out. His original spiel in the ad was the car was one owner, low mileage and full service history.

Under questioning he claimed he bought the car only four weeks previously and had now decided to live abroad because his wife suddenly didn't like living here anymore. The car had one previous owner, but it wasn't he the seller, so therefore it had two owners. He then explained that he bought he car from his mate who owns suchNsuch motors. He didn't have the log book as it was still in the garage, but he hadn't signed the book and it would be whoever he sold the car to would sign it instead. And he didn't have the service history to hand but was sure that was in the garage too. He didn't know anything about the previous registered owner either. Questions about whether the car ever crashed or damaged was answered with a stock reply: "not to my knowledge".

So whatever misgivings people have about the wording of an advertisement, I tend to judge the car in the first instance about how plausible the person selling it is. Or isn't as the case may be.

I spent ages looking for alloys for a Fiat Punto and I'm not bothered leaving the South East to get them and when I eventually found a seller in my county (Waterford) with a product matching my 'product requirements' they didn't even have pictures up!!:mad::mad:

Not lazy, but god help her, I'd say she was plagued after this ad (especially with implied "perks")

Well, the date on the camera is definitely not correct if the car has next years insurance & NCT discs.

I have passed my NCT few months ago.... There is some scratches on the sides

You can't really notice the scratches with the fake tan, wouldn't need much patching up :D
