Car Hire charges.

Car Hire firms such as Budget.ie and Thrifty always add charges to those shown on internet searches.
When you think you have booked a good deal at the quoted price you find that when the confirmation email arrives there are the the additional charges such as Budget 28 Euro Surcharge for Cork Airport collection. Ask Budget for alternative collection point to avoid surcharge and there is none so basically it is not a surcharge but the actual charge which should have been quoted in the 1st place.
Thrifty will charge for any x-border travel as an extra -how crazy is that?
Does anyone know of car hire firms for which you can get the actual hire charge up front?

    Have a look at carhire3000.ie

The car you get is from Avis/Hertz etc, but you pay a lot less. Presume they buy in bulk from them.

Obviously you still have to pay extra for extra drivers etc, but they're very good.

You can also ring them and see if they can give you a deal. Generally you can get the insurance excess for free if you call.
