Is any job worth the hassle/threats that he gets? and he will probably continue to get them..... some sad individuals out there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,934 ✭✭✭OhNoYouDidn't

He is literally putting his life on the line to do his job as a football manager. Make no mistake, this would have killed him. And all because he is Irish

Disgraceful stuff from the so called Rangers fans, and targeting the lawyer who represented him in his recent ban appeal and a politician.

Sad thing is, the police are only starting to take this seriously because an MSP was sent a bomb.

getting tiresome at this stage... zzzzzzzzzz

Lennon should get the f**k out of there...

I mean, he cant exactly have a very pleasant lifestyle up there so why put up with it.

hell, he probsably cant even nip across to a local shop without getting lamped.

There's no way he can back down mate - if he backs down then the same thing will happen to our next manager and the manager after that and after that etc...

    so f***ing what

who cares about them idiots, its clear they have the IQ of grains of sand.

Lennon is putting his life at risk over this nonsense, Im sure he doesnt need to be told this.

I think he is also looking at it that way sadly... Ohhh, I quit this place, they win.

and his hardman image also maybe means he is going to put up with this.

    I think he is nuts.

Glasgow is f***ed with hatred, not long ago some A level student was knived and he did not even have celtic colours on... he was just after leaving the pub after watching them play the dons.

I hope whoever is doing this has/have an excrutiating painful death and soon. This is a sport, its not political and those who confuse the issue are well brainless and beyond that they are the subsoil of the human race.

Thank you for your insightful contribution. But Lenny is a Celtic man through and through and won't be chased out of his job by these terrorists and leave an untenable position for all the other Irish staff there.

win the league and then tell them all to get fcuked and join the conference, be reigning champions forever, now that would be sweet

I have no interest in scottish football,. All the papers with celtic and rangers nonsense, wouldnt read a line of it.

I can't believe the stuff I read on that forum, from four or five random forum users basically encouraging people to kill Lennon, jesus i truly hope that is not representative of their support - is that forum closed now?

No, but they are culling all the threats and support of the bomber posts as we speak.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,165 ✭✭✭Savage Tyrant

I think Celtic should pull the squad from the League and cup final. Cancel all remaining fixtures due to concerns for the safety of the manager, his family and his staff. They should make all possible moves now to get out of that league.

It's not a representative of the whole Rangers supports. Just a bunch of clowns on a site. Look at Eirebear and Broxi Bear. Good lads IMO. I work with a Rangers lad too. Grand chap. They aren't diseased or anything. Just maybe a couple of more idiots than normal.

Too many dinosaurs out there too. They aren't fans though. They are bigots. I very much doubt the majority share these views. Football is football. It's 90 mins on a pitch. Not nail bombs and death threats. These "fans" need to be weeded out of the game. These fans associate themselves with Rangers, but really they shouldn't. They are nothing but bigots, who think they are football 'fans'. Get out of our game.

The thing that keeps coming back to me is how it's just all one-sided. There's no bullets being sent to Rangers players.

any chance the game on Sunday will be cancelled?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

Lennon has been on the receiving end of this type of behaviour for a long time now and Im afraid he wont back down to it, cant say I blame him either tbh, I stupidly also believe you cant let these people win when of course it is just sport and its not worth risking yours, or more importantly, your familys safety over it

Just a point of clarification - Reamonn Gormley's tragic death was nothing to do with football whatsoever.

It's disgraceful, I mean if his family's safety is at risk you could never begrudge him for quitting, it's a horrid situation over the most ridiculous unimportant aspects of life. Hard to find a solution. I'm hopeful that it's a tiny but insane minority that are causing this.

Alot of misinformation coming from Strathclyde Police or they just dont have a clue. The bullets came from NI but the police are saying that the nail bomb came from within Scotland. First the bombs were hoaxes but later reclassified as viable, are they deliberately giving the public bad information or are they just incompetent?
We believe we are dealing with someone who is Scotland-based and it wouldn't take Miss Marple to suggest that there's every chance someone from a loyalist background is involved

this is correct, apparently he was trying to break up a fight or something along those lines!

only thing that annoys me is that in the following rangers match when a tribute was being played over the big screens to this young chap who had given so much time to disadvantaged children a crowd of the rangers "supporters"* started chanting he was a pedo!

    *use this term lightly

Is this actually news? I mean afaik Lennon has received more than a few "suspicious packages" through the post over the years as i'm pretty sure have former players and managers. Hell, it's not right but it's not like the game should be called off or anything....

Just browsing some Rangers forum and their response is shocking, varying from "it's Celtic fans sending them" to "shame it didn't get there". I'm not a Celtic fan so out of touch really with the mood and feeling between the clubs but if stuff like http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=184422&st=0 is really representative of what Rangers fans believe, then it's terrifying.

A better article (well the start of it anyway) is from the BBC.
