    Am I alone in this?

Just in from work, and have once again been reminded of what a prick my boss is! You probably know the type, never ever happy, flies off the handle at any little thing, bitches about you to other workers etc! This annoys me massively.

Tonight he came in having a tantrum and I was told there "wouldnt be a ****ing job left" for me because I didnt pick up a piece of green tape off the floor! Been called all sorts by him! both to my face and to other employees. Now I will give him credit, its not just picking on me, because everyone gets the same treatment!

Thats just two examples. I'm sure there is much worse out there. Which is the point of this thread! Hopefully stories about the bosses of AH will be worse, providing me with a small comfort.

If you worked in the Public Service it would be coloured red.

I had a boss like that, except for the talking about people behind their backs, everyone kept their heads down to not attract his attention and if he did come over to just talk it was a nervous one while you hoped something else would get his attention and he would be off. I left after a few months and told the guy lasted barely over 6 months, apparently the other owners and franchise owners were wondering about the high turnover of staff and then the complaints surfaced.

Your boss is a member of boards.

(bet ya got a little fright there didnt ya? Just a little heart skip)

(seriously though, he's a member. A mod too obviously)

I had a boss who was a complete tyrant. Gave me awful crap at every opportunity. Outside work he was bang on though, we became really good friends. It was just his style I guess.

OP the best thing to do with these guys is take no crap. Next time he goes off on one tell him calmly that he is over reacting and he shouldn't treat people like that. No job is worth that IMO and you should stand up to him. It is imperative that you stay calm and reasoned throughout and look him in the eye. He won't know how to deal with that and might respect you more after.

But you couldn't/wouldn't get fired if you worked in the Public Sector

Tonight one of them came in having a hangover and I was told there "wouldnt be a fúcking notion of me lifting me head today" because I didnt get home before dawn! Been called all sorts by them! both to my face and by other employees. Now I will give them credit, its not just picking on me, because everyone gets the same treatment!

My boss is good, my team leader is great. I'd like to think I'm a decent boss too now that I'm responsible for one person.

    November 2008

Very busy, year end coming up and staff working 14 hour days.
Management spotted getting limos from Dublin airport to the IFSC

    January 2009
Backlog cleared, pep talk given, thanks staff for all your all hard work, well done to all, it's been noted
    ......And now we're announcing redundancies.
A lot let go but I didn't see any management leave
But hey, I'm "lucky to have a job", a very overused phrase

Fookers in management , we should have dragged the backlog out

I wonder what kind of boss Bob Dylan would make.

He'd be singing "You're Going To Make Me Lonesome When You Go" while kicking you around the floor in his Boots Of Spanish Leather, to make you feel his love.

I nearly laughed you will give him credit because he is like that to everyone" How dare he he shouldn't be a bully in the first place it's a serious matter. You should contact HR for help.
Bullies are insecure idiots that have to vent out on the ones that can't retaliate.

Being a hardass is one of my guilty pleasures.
I love giving out to people when I know its the only way they're gonna get off their asses and get it done.
