Claiming Job Benefit

    Hello,
I decided to go to USA and handed in my notice at work. I was told I could get a job in USA but now have problem with Visa and it could be months before it is sorted. I left my job because I didn't like the profession and the costs of travelling to/from work, parking in city car parks and I just couldn't afford it.
I know I'll probably be disqualified for 9 weeks but heres my basic questions:
Will I be able to approach the social and discuss my situation without them contacting my previous employer as I have been going on about going to the USA etc and find it embarrasing to have to say truth. I know my job is also gone as a replacement has already been identified and given a contract.

Also what information is required when approaching social welfare.

    Any help is appreciated.

I left my job once and went travelling for a month.

I came home and began jobseeking and applied for the dole.

The welfare officer got me to fill out a form which gave her permission to contact my old employer to enquire whether my old position or anything else suitable was available.

If I were you I'd look into getting a Canada visa if you're under 35. Work in Canada and holiday in the states. The Canadian dollar is actually worth US $1.05.

Also quick question if I got my employer to avoid saying I left voluntarily would that help?
What could I ask employer and is it possible they could get in trouble?

If your employer is asked the circumstances under which you left their employ and they give a misleading answer then they are committing an offence.

So is there anyway they can help. And would it not be hard to prove if they said I was let go due to lack of work

lads were fairly close to discussing fraud here IMO.

Every one, employers and those applying for social welfare are obliged by law to give true and accurate details in all dealings with said dept.
