Hi, I'm starting a new thread here for those like myself who want to find an alternative site to Youtube.
I personally used Youtube for about three years untill I was locked out last night for not giving my personal phone numbers to the new owners which is all well documented elswhere. I used it in main for Diy, science, home inventions, and various save the planet type stuff such as recycling etc. So I am looking for alternatives. I know Youtube will never be matched but I have to try.

So I invite all site recommendations here.

What has given me some hope is that already I found this site
    http://www.5min.com/Video/How-to-use-DeWalt-Wet-Saw-105287700
and I was blown away by the fact that with my first click on the DIY section I came up with an "Ask The Builder" video presented by Tim Carter. I have viewed him many times before:):):).

So maybe there is life after Youtube....

Wait, what?? Where is this documented? I wouldn't mind having a look at this if you could provide a link.

Boards does not allow cross links, my knuckles were rapped yesterday for it and they are still sore lol:). However I posted the details yesterday under this same forum 'Blogs Wikis social networks' and its listed real close to this posting and 'Linking is in the title. There now, hope I haven't broken any rules.

Vimeo is a fantastic video hosting platform, with both unpaid and paid options. It won't get you the search engine results of YouTube, but comes across really well, for hosting for a website, etc.

Brilliant news this morning. I am back on Youtube. No explanation for it but can access it again from any route. I quickly checked my old Gmail account to see if there was any linkup without my permission and could not see any.
I then accessed a video and tried the 'share' button and another request to linkup appeared. I simply closed the box and copied the link into a separate email browser no problem. I also continued to watch video with no problem. So what is happening, here are some thoughts.

1, Maybe they have reversed this policy alltogether (personally I doubt it).

2, Maybe they have just given me a taste of life without Youtube ( I admit it was not very pleasant) and will do it again shortly.
    or
3, Maybe they shut you out and then if you make no attempt to to submit to the demands and stay away they restore your access but without certain features (such as that share button).

My opinion would be no 3 which would be the most sensible for them as they will not lose viewers such as myself who refuse to link and supply numbers and they would obviously retain those that simply linked etc.
    Great thinking, smart Google!

Lets hope it is number 3. Options are nice and friendlysmile.gif. If it is 3, thank you Google we're friends again.smile.gif
